It is estimated that each year about 2 to 3 million non-fatal, medically treated injuries due to home and leisure accidents occur among older people in Europe. The consequences of such injuries are often considerable; they interfere seriously in normal daily activities and the ability of older people to continue to live on their own.

Claim

  1. Good health is later life is a key factor in promoting individual wellbeing and personal growth. Reducing the risk of accidents is an important prerequisite to enable older people to continue to contribute socially and economically, and to stay independent.
