Description

Increasing men's commitment and joint responsibility in all areas of sexual and reproductive activity. Promotion of policies and programmes improving autonomy and responsibility of both men and women in their decisions on reproduction.

Implementation

Investigate negative male attitudes and bias against reproductive planning and sexual health; identify major cultural and political constraints to male participation and support in sexual and reproductive health care practice; involve men along with women in encouraging communication and joint decision making, and the enhancement of self-esteem of women, as a basis for changing sex role stereotypes in the practice of family planning; provide men with information on contraceptive methods, women's reproductive health needs and prevention of sexually transmitted disease; identify successful programme approaches to male involvement in family planning.
