Isolation of individual decision-making from context

There is no social encouragement for the individual to allow others to participate in his decision-making. This isolation makes consensus virtually impossible to maintain with any degree of depth.

1. Public conscience is not demanding the making of decisions necessary for today's society. Instead, because it seems too difficult and complex to respond to all of the diverse expressions the social needs, people become the passive victims of agonizing demand, unable to find ways to act out their commitment. An absence of social direction results in a multiplicity of competing demands vying for attention. The individual dares not risk starting significant involvement. Lack of commitment to building a new world future discourages self-actualization. It is difficult to preserve the present without being creatively related to the future social direction, enabling concrete appropriation of obligations to all other people on the globe.
