In Chinese medicine the Gall Bladder stores and secrete bile. As in western medicine, the bile is poured into the Intestine by the Gall Bladder, aiding the digestive process. The Liver and the Gall Bladder are coupled Yin and Yang organs (associated with the element Wood) and dissonance in one may cause problems with the other. Imbalances in the Gall Bladder may result in imbalanced ability to make decisions and poor execution of plans.
The Gall Bladder is considered both a Yang Organ and a Curious Organ. It is Yang because it is involved in the breakdown of impure food; it is curious it is the only Yang Organ to contain a pure substance, bile, which is the surplus Qi of the Liver.
