Providing decision-making data

Description

Giving an individual the information he needs to participate in self-conscious decision-making. The effect is to afford access for every individual to a comprehensive body of facts and concepts from which he may glean the data relevant to his particular situation; and to unveil a wide variety of alternative decisions and actions.

Context

An integral part of formulating collective opinion by enabling the individual to use the comprehensive data and consensus methodology which will involve him in decision-making processes.

Implementation

Tactics include: commissioning spokesmen to give people the style and methods to inform specific audiences, allowing their responsible participation in decision-making; dispersing informative written material strategically in all geo-social areas; providing centres which make information vital to decision-making readily accessible to whole neighbourhoods; employing the media to impact the mass audience with relevant facts and images through television, radio, records, newspapers and films; and utilizing art forms to imaginally impact the community with the necessary data for decision-making, via comic strips, paintings and poems. An example is a parent who becomes able to improve the schools that his children attend because he has a wealth of knowledge about educational theories, methods and structures.
