Implementation
The International Labour Organization (ILO) has worked to guarantee freedom of the right to association, the right to organize, collective bargaining, the rights of indigenous and tribal peoples, promote employment and equal remuneration and has sought to eliminate discrimination and child labour. And by setting safety standards, ILO has helped to reduce the toll of work-related accidents.
International labour standards are an essential element in the promotion and protection of human rights, and their implementation is carried out in application of the ILO constitution. ILO assists its constituents, especially in developing countries, to participate more actively in the elaboration and implementation of these standards. Efforts are made to improve interaction between standard-setting and technical cooperation activities. Special emphasis is given to equality of women and the elimination of child labour.
