Establishing national advisory groups on ethics for sustainable development

  • Developing ethic codes relating to technological innovations
  • Developing ethical perspectives relating to scientific experiments

Implementation

This strategy features in the framework of Agenda 21 as formulated at UNCED (Rio de Janeiro, 1992), now coordinated by the United Nations Commission on Sustainable Development and implemented through national and local authorities. Agenda 21 recommends strengthening and establishing national advisory groups on environmental and developmental ethics, in order to develop a common value framework between the scientific and technological community and society as a whole and to promote continuous dialogue.
