Advancing contraceptive technology involves: (1) research and development of new methods of contraception; (2) clinical trials on contraceptive products; (3) provision of technical assistance in initiating local production of health and contraceptive technologies; (4) encouragement of the growth of companies involved in providing family planning and sexual health products that meet the needs of people in developing countries; (5) bridging the gap between technologies of the developed world, and family planning needs of the developing nations – improve availability, effectiveness, safety, consumer acceptance and continued use of contraceptive products in developing countries.
