Psychiatrism

Nature

Psychiatrism is the indiscriminate application of psychiatric principles by novices or those with little understanding of the complexity of the mind, tending instead to make gross generalizations and ignoring the enormous importance of individual variation. Psychiatric principles may be applied in a mechanistic manner without careful investigation of personal dynamics, and therefore the "treatment" can render serious harm.
