Prison deaths

Official inquiries into the growing number of prison deaths in suspicious circumstances are not pursued or tend to result in a finding of suicide. In many countries prisoners are executed, without charge or trial, for their political opinions, religious beliefs or ethnic origins.

Death in prison has been reported in the following countries:
