Poverty as a consequence of war

  • Economic decline caused by war

Nature

War impoverishes the people and nations who fight them. The wounded and the poor are left to beg. Shops and stores run out of goods to sell. The clothes of even the middle class become increasingly shabby. Inflation ruin the rich and the poor alike. Fuel supplies become short and power, water and other service are cut. Infrastructure can not be repaired or constructed and so every day things like telephones lines, roads, bridges and port facilities deteriorate. Garbage is left uncollected. Wars destroy economic growth and may turn a prosperous country into a poverty stricken one.
