Migrating geese as pests

Claim

Geese are arriving to northern Europe escaping the harsh conditions of their breeding grounds in Iceland, Greenland and the arctic island of Svalbard. Partly because of successful conservation measures, their numbers have been steadily increasing. Geese have a voracious appetite for crops and this has resulted in bitter disputes between farmers and conservationists in the past.
