Enforced celibacy

  • Vocational celibacy

Nature

The state of being unmarried is generally a voluntary state, so celibacy only arises as a problem if the person want to marry and requires celibacy of the partner. Celibacy in the religious sense is imposed on priests, nuns and monks by certain religions, notably Buddhism, Jainism and Catholicism. If priests, nuns or monks wish to marry under these circumstances, they must leave their vocation.

Claim

Since priests may not marry it is arguable that they are less capable of understanding their married parishioners.
