Nine-fold knowledge (Systematics)

  • Experience of pattern

Description

Experience would lose all coherence if there were not always sources of order residing in the patterns of organized structures. All experience is pervaded by the influence of such active sources of order which require a minimum of nine independent terms to be experienced. The ideal completion of eight-fold knowledge does not take into account the uncertainty and hazard encountered in actual experience. This nine-fold knowledge permits the representation of everyday working structures (disturbed by environmental factors) in which harmony is established and maintained. The harmonization is dynamic and indeterminate.

Context

The ninth in a sequence of twelve modes of knowledge, identified by J G Bennett, inspired by G Gurdjieff.
