Using metaphor

  • Metaphoring
  • Articulating fundamental metaphors

Claim

  1. Metaphors unfold the infinite interior. Metaphors from the organic world ground us in the biosphere and enfold us in the living system that we live within and of which we are an inseparable aspect.

  2. The greatest thing by far is to be a master of metaphor; it is the one thing that cannot be learnt from others; and it is also a sign of genius, since a good metaphor implies intuitive perception of the similarity in the dissimilar (Aristotle).

  3. Metaphor is the fundament of our conceptualization and that isophor, the experience of one thing in terms of another, is the fundament of our perception. These two are so intimately braided that their separation renders them objects, dull and lifeless, pale shadows from the dynamic poiesis that we experience in the flow of our living and our awareness of our flow as observers of a world that we also unfold in poiesis (Kathleen Forsythe).
