Facilitating the transfer of technology for conservation and sustainable use of biodiversity to developing countries.
Technical and scientific co-operation should in particular aim at strengthening the basic capacities in developing countries for the conservation and sustainable use of biodiversity and its components and the establishment of joint research programmes, in particular as regards identification, monitoring and exchange of information.
The European Community Biodiversity Strategy promotes both within and outside the Community the wider application of knowledge and technologies for conservation and sustainable use of biodiversity, including knowledge, innovations and practices of local and indigenous communities.
