Wildlife and other environmental crimes are on the increase. Current research into wildlife crime prevention include the use of DNA in wildlife investigations; different types of poaching investigations; practical enforcement issues; bird and habitat enforcement issues; working in partnership; and the international angle.
The UK Wildlife Law Enforcer of the Year award is made each year to the police or Customs officer who has made the greatest contribution to wildlife law enforcement in that year. The Partnership for Action Against Wildlife Crime (PAW) was originally launched in November 1995 to provide a strategic response to wildlife law enforcement issues. PAW also oversees the arrangements for the annual Police Wildlife Liaison Officers' Conference.
