Implementation

The Barrio Development School programme in the Philippines is for the barrio youth who has decided to stay, live and work in the barrio as a farm operator. The school curriculum is composed of a supervised farming programme reinforced by classroom instruction in production agriculture, tool subjects and citizenship subjects. The students are able to acquire the skills of production and they also learn to cope with problems of supply, labour, credit and marketing. The ultimate success of this scheme lies in the ability of the graduate to establish their own economic-scale farming projects.
