Promoting Spanish language teaching in North America
- Choosing Spanish as second or third language in North America
Claim
- On the American continent, English is spoken through most of North America (except notably Mexico) whilst the Spanish language (except notably Brazil) dominates Latin America. Latin Americans often choose to learn English if they study a second or third language. Since, Latin America's population and economic potential is growing at a substantial rate, English speaking Americans should consider or be encouraged to learn Spanish when themselves opting to learn a second language. This will not only substantially improve cross-cultural understanding and bonding in the Americas, but also facilitate economic integration and opportunities, particularly since both North and South Americans are working towards an American free trade area.
