Promoting mutual respect between Muslims and Jews

Implementation

The International Council of Christians and Jews (ICCJ) set out on the path of dialogue with Muslims in 1987, at its conference in Spain on The Cultural Encounter between Jews, Christians and Muslims -- Lessons from the Past. ICCJ's Abrahamic Forum facilitates contacts, dialogue and cooperation on equal terms between Christians, Jews and Muslims who, in the terms of their respective scriptures and traditions, all trace the origin of their faiths to Abraham and are committed to developing attitudes of mutual respect and acceptance of each other in acknowledgement of their religious and other differences. A core group met in October 1996 to map out a programme for recognition of diversity as well as to highlight the features of each faith than can be shared. In 1997, the emphasis is on 'living respectfully with difference'.
