Today, only about 4% of the world's GNP is military related; 96% of the international business community provides civilian products and services. Most of these business sectors have a vested interest in world stability and peace. Since most of the world's leading multinationals have their headquarters in G8 countries, there is scope for co-operation and co-ordination between the state and private sectors in contributing to conflict prevention and resolution.
