Intimidating intellectuals

In 1995, the world's most famous poet was expelled from the Arab Writers' Union for meeting with Israeli intellectuals. Authoritarian states such as communist China, Iraq, or Iran engage in the intimidation or worse of their intellectual establishment. In China, for instance intellectuals may be classified as counter-revolutionaries.
