According to the results of a survey of 1,400 adults (Journal of Adult Development, 2002) attending religious services was associated with decreased psychological distress among young and middle-aged adults and increased life satisfaction among older adults. It was also associated with higher self-rated health among participants of all ages.
People who regularly attend religious services live longer and also tend to follow healthier behaviors Some of it is just peer influence; some suggests that "religiosity" helps people to live healthier and longer lives.
