Improving cooperation on sustainable development programmes for and by children
Implementation
This strategy features in the framework of Agenda 21 as formulated at UNCED (Rio de Janeiro, 1992), now coordinated by the United Nations Commission on Sustainable Development and implemented through national and local authorities. Agenda 21 recommends cooperation and coordination among international and regional organizations. In particular, it suggests that UNICEF should cooperate with other organizations of the UN, Governments and non-governmental organizations in developing programmes for children and programmes to mobilize children in sustainable development activities.
