Countries should enhance the ability to gain access to, analyse and effectively use available knowledge and information on environment and development.
This strategy features in the framework of Agenda 21 as formulated at UNCED (Rio de Janeiro, 1992), now coordinated by the United Nations Commission on Sustainable Development and implemented through national and local authorities. Agenda 21 recommends that national and regional environmental labour-market information systems should be developed that would supply, on a continuing basis, data on environmental job and training opportunities.
