Provision of knowledge and information on severely restricted or banned chemicals to importing countries to enable them to judge and take decisions on whether to import, and on how to handle, those chemicals and to establish joint responsibility in trade of chemicals between importing and exporting countries.
This strategy features in the framework of Agenda 21 as formulated at UNCED (Rio de Janeiro, 1992), now coordinated by the United Nations Commission on Sustainable Development and implemented through national and local authorities.
