Developing sector strategies to reduce the frequency and severity of injuries

Context

To reduce the frequency and severity of injury, Agenda 21 recommends the development, in accordance with national plans, of strategies in all sectors (industry, traffic and others) consistent with the WHO safe cities and safe communities programmes.

Implementation

This strategy features in the framework of Agenda 21 as formulated at UNCED (Rio de Janeiro, 1992), now coordinated by the United Nations Commission on Sustainable Development and implemented through national and local authorities.
