Developing guidelines and mechanisms for rapid transfer of environmental information technology

Implementation

This strategy features in the framework of Agenda 21 as formulated at UNCED (Rio de Janeiro, 1992), now coordinated by the United Nations Commission on Sustainable Development and implemented through national and local authorities. Agenda 21 indicates that, with the rapid evolution of data-collection and information technology, it is necessary to develop guidelines and mechanisms for the rapid and continuous transfer of such technology, particularly to developing countries, and for the training of personnel in its utilization.
