Conserving fossil fuels

Fossil fuels should be conserved at sufficient quantities not only to allow for a smooth transition towards the mass use of other types of energy, such as renewable energy, but also because fossil fuels offer many non-fuel benefits, including among others the manufacturing of plastics.
