Colonizing

Colonialism is not a singular event. It has its benefits and costs, the latter including the transatlantic slave trade, plantation slavery, forced labour and sexual exploitation. The forests of the Amazon and Congo basins were killing fields, as were the Banda Islands, Tasmania and lands inhabited by Araucanians, Pequots and Hereros.
