Nature

Whooping cough is an acute, highly communicable respiratory disease, worldwide in distribution and among the most acute infections of children. It can cause convulsions, ear infections, pneumonia, bronchitis, collapses lungs and sometimes brain damage. It is the cause of more school absenteeism than any other infectious disease.

Claim

The number of deaths from whooping cough had fallen long before the vaccine was introduced. The vaccine has not reduced the incidence of the disease.
