Unethical practices with domesticated animals

Animals may be kept in environments, or under conditions, which are inappropriate to their well-being. This is especially the case with animals kept for purposes of personal prestige, entertainment or companionship (pets, circus and zoo animals), where the animals normally require large surface area, or a particular vegetation and climate.
