Unauthorized sale of personal information

  • Unethical purchase of client data

Nature

Much personal data is now stored in large databanks by government services and commercial organizations about individuals, and is sold to other companies who wish to tailor their marketing strategies to clients or who wish to refuse services to clients. Patterns of bill payment interest credit card companies, and medical histories interest drug and insurance companies. The sales show very little or no regard for the individual's privacy.

Claim

  1. Laws about information transfer are out of date, since they were not designed for a world where masses of information can be stored and then transferred anywhere in the worlds at the press of a button.
