Trivialization of equality

  • Simplistic concept of equality
  • Collapsed concept of equality
  • Egalitarianism

Claim

  1. A principal difficulty with egalitarianism is that of specifying in a concrete case when the requisite conditions for equality and procedurally just transactions have been met. A major objection to the radical call for redistribution of planetary resources according to egalitarian considerations is that it is unrealistic. Since there is no theory of global justice providing for institutions that would compensate for uneven distribution of resources then such an approach cannot be effectively implemented.

  2. 'Equality … destroys everything it touches …’ (Renaud Camus, You Will Not Replace Us!, 2018)
