Background

Podocnemis unifilis is distributed in the river systems of Bolivia, Brazil, Colombia, Ecuador, French Guiana, Guyana, Peru, Suriname and Venezuela.

Incidence

Podocnemis unifilis is considered as "Vulnerable" by the IUCN Red List. CITES lists the species as "Appendix 2".
