The Narhwal is known for the VERY long tooth that males have, which can grow to be 7-10 feet (2-3 m) long. Otherwise Very little is known about the Narwhal (meaning "corpse whale" in Old Norse). It is rarely seen as they rarely stray far from the arctic ice. In summer they infrequently enter estuaries, deep fjords, and bays. There are large concentrations in the Davis Strait, around Baffin Bay and in the Greenland Sea. The advance and retreat of the ice initiates migration. The Narwhal is seldom found further south than 70 degrees North.
