Background

Gyps bengalensis is found in: Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Cambodia, China, India, Iran, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Nepal, Pakistan, Thailand and Viet Nam.

Incidence

Gyps bengalensis is considered as a "Lower Risk" sub-category "near threatened" species by the IUCN Red List. CITES lists the species as "Appendix 2".
