Feroculus feroculus is the single member of the genus Feroculus. It is only known from the montane forests of Sri Lanka, at elevations of approximately 1850 to 2150m. Only ten specimens have ever been recorded. Almost nothing is known about the ecology of this species.
Feroculus feroculus is considered as "Endangered" by the IUCN.
