Superannuated religious gerontocracy

As people abandon out-worn institutionalized religions, monks, nuns, priests, brothers, ministers, ecclesiastics of all kinds, theologians and teachers in religious orders, become redundant. Religious houses, East and West, are full of such people with no jobs. Some dignitaries also preside only nominally over sees, parishes and religious communities, but they are in decreasing demand.

Superannuated persons with religious vocations, although belonging to ecclesiastical gerontocracy, are frequently obliged to live in the most impoverished conditions, being led to believe this is the way to holiness. They do not protest even when it is a question of their basic human rights to adequate food, clothing, shelter, warmth and medicine.
