Stomatitis

Stomatitisis inflammation of the mouth, usually with sores or ulcers. The causes are many. One is herpetic stomatitis, a contagious viral illness caused by Herpes virus hominus (also herpes simplex virus, HSV) and seen in young children. This condition probably represents their first exposure to herpes virus.
