Polymyositis (PM) has its onset anytime from childhood to late adulthood. The symptoms are weakness of neck and limb muscles, with muscle pain and swelling common. It is sometimes associated with malignancy. The disease severity and progression varies among individuals. It often responds to drug therapy.
