Non-cardiac chest pain
- Phantom chest pain
Nature
Sufferers of non-cardiac chest pain complain of heart attack-like symptoms -- severe chest pain radiating down the arms.
Claim
This pain is a mystery. It mimics symptoms of reflux or spastic contraction of the oesophagus without being this. It does not seem connected with an abnormality in the oesophagus but resulting from a dysfunction in the brain's processing of the signals from the oesophagus.
