Misdemeanour constitutes a legal offence of less gravity than felony. In some countries, a person is guilty of misdemeanour who utters any word, makes any sound or gesture, or exhibits any objects, intending that such word or sound shall be heard, or that such gesture or objects shall be seen by some woman, or intrudes upon the privacy of some woman. The reason that very few cases are taken to court for the above misdemeanours is that women have learned to acquiesce in the case of such insults.
