Luteal cystic ovary disease
- Luteal cysts
- Corpus luteum cyst
Nature
Even if the follicle releases the egg normally, the remaining hormone-producing structure, the corpus luteum, may fail to dissolve and becomes a cyst. Corpeus luteum cysts usually resolve in a few weeks but can reach 4 or more inches in diameter and have the potential to twist the ovary and cause pelvic or abdominal pain.
