Low productivity of agricultural workers

Nature

Excess labour in relation to productive labour opportunities in agriculture not only signifies a low level of production per unit of labour, but is also a direct cause of stagnation in agricultural productivity. The lower the productivity of labour in agriculture, the less is it capable of producing an excess over the subsistence requirements of the workers involved in production and therefore of creating capital required for the purchase of inputs that are essential for increasing yields.
