Long-term shortage of furniture

Nature

Population increases and resulting demands on diminishing resources give priority to industrial and community needs. Private property such as home furniture may be only obtainable at exhorbitant prices.

Claim

Wood will vanish as a resource. Metals will be diverted to non-furniture needs. Factory produced synthetic materials will be produced at premium prices with synthetic furniture becoming a luxury for very rich individuals and corporations. Inadequate numbers of local craftsmen will not be able to provide quantities of furniture made from junk, garbage, stone, clay and earth.
