1. World problems
  2. Lack of physical education

Lack of physical education

  • Inadequate PE
  • Insufficient sports training

Incidence

By 1997 in many American schools, physical education (PE) had been watered down so that little real physical training was required from children. By 1990 the number of schools with mandatory PE had fallen to 42%, and by 1995 to 25%. As a result, many students finish school with few precepts for keeping in shape through their adult life. They are moreover ill-prepared for any career that involves strenuous physical labour.
