Interstitial pneumonia

Nature

Interstitial pneumonia arises from an inflammation of the “mesh-like” walls of the alveoli (or air sacs) in the lungs, which results in the air sacs becoming separated. Additionally, an inflammation of the pleura (the thin cover that shields the lungs and its individual lobes) occasionally occurs. Interstitial pneumonia is considered to be rare.
