Hemiptera as insect pests

Hemiptera, the true bugs, are a major order of insects, many of which are important pests. Almost all are phytophagous, except for a small number which feed on the blood of other animals. Hence many species are of importance as plant pests and vectors of disease, both of plants and animals.
