False flag events are acts committed with the intent of hiding the true culprits and blaming others.
Notably during the "war on terror" of the 21 century, national and international false flag events have been characterised as a terrorist act where: evidence for official account was very weak or convenient; any evidence ignoring official accounts were ignored; the suspects are dead, often associated with an ideological enemy, such as Islam; military or enforcement exercises that mimic the event happen either coinciding with the event or preceding the event; and very quick action in response to the event proclaims the cause and disposes of evidence without thorough investigation.
